AI consultant, Hāwera and South Taranaki
Practical AI for Hāwera and South Taranaki.
South Taranaki runs on farming, processing, energy and a strong main street. Changeable helps local businesses and organisations use AI where it saves real time, and we come to you to do it.
Hāwera case study
The Collective: modern retail systems for a local makers’ shop.
The challenge
The Collective sells handmade goods from many local makers on consignment. Each maker supplies their own stock and the shop takes a commission. Keeping track of who supplied what, what sold, and what each maker is owed was slow manual work, and getting products online took far too long.
What we built
We set up WooCommerce with an in-store point of sale, so online and shop sales sit in one system. Each product is tagged to its maker with a commission rate, so supplier statements come straight from the sales data. A daily sales summary flows to Xero for the bookkeeper. Card payments stay on a simple standalone EFTPOS terminal to keep costs and complexity down.
Where AI comes in
We designed an AI product listing tool for the team’s phones. Take a photo of an item and the tool cleans up the background, reads the price tag and drafts the product title and description, ready to check and publish. It turns a slow listing job into a few taps.
What changed
- One system for shop and online sales
- Maker commissions calculated automatically
- Daily sales summary in Xero
- Product listings drafted by AI from a phone photo
